Zizou Bergs vs Diego Dedura-Palomero prediction
Zizou Bergs edged a tight match against Alexander Bublik to advance to the round-of-16. The Belgian grabbed the decisive break at the end of the third set to win 6-7 6-4 7-5. He now takes on Diego Dedura-Palomero in the next round, as the German became the first player born in 2008 to win an ATP Tour level match.
He was 7-6 3-0 up against Denis Shapovalov before the Canadian retired. Dedura-Palomero has already received criticism for his celebration after winning, with some viewing it as disrespectful after a player had just withdrawn. Nevertheless, it’s still been a whirlwind few days for the youngster, having only been added to the main draw a day earlier as a result of Gael Monfils’ withdrawal from the tournament.
Dedura-Palomero can be proud of his showing so far this week and must hope it can add as a springboard to bigger and better things for the rest of the season and beyond. In saying that, Bergs should make light work of the 17-year-old and advance through to the quarter-finals with minimal fuss.
Zizou Bergs vs Diego Dedura-Palomero tip: Zizou Bergs to win 2-0
