Zhizhen Zhang vs Holger Rune Prediction

China’s Zhizhen Zhang comes into the Australian Open without any real form behind him. he lost in the first round in Adelaide at the start of the year in his only ATP Tour event so far and he really needs to hit the ground running given his tough first-round match.

Zhang managed to get through a round in three of the four Grand Slams last year and he will be hoping to improve once again this year. That will not be easy against Holger Rune in Melbourne however.

Rune is ranked number 13 for this one and he will be hoping to get through some rounds this year. He lost in the first round in Brisbane to Jiri Lehecka so he has not hard a huge amount of court time so far and he does not have huge pedigree in this tournament. His best performance came in 2023 when he reached the fourth round and he will have to be on his game right away as this is a tough opening match.

Rune has to be favoured over the best of five sets to have too much energy for Zhang. It would be no surprise if this went to four or even five sets but Rune should get through this and progress.
