Zhao Xintong vs Chris Wakelin prediction
There was plenty of talk around Zhao Xintong in the lead-up to the World Snooker Championship, with the 28-year-old having impressed upon his return to the tour following his 20-month ban.
The Chinese talent has not disappointed so far, following up his opening-round win over last year’s runner-up Jak Jones with a battling 13-10 victory over compatriot Lei Peifan.
Conversely, hardly anyone was talking about Chris Wakelin prior to the Crucible, but the 33-year-old is now looking like a danger to anyone after eliminating both Neil Robertson and Mark Allen to reach the quarter-finals.
Wakelin had never previously won a game in Sheffield but has looked more than comfortable in the event. He will certainly not fear Xintong but the Chinese star is playing some excellent snooker himself, so expect this one to be a lengthy, competitive affair whichever way it goes.
