Yuliia Starodubtseva has struggled to make an impact this season in all of the tournament she’s participated in. She was unable to make it out of qualifying for Stuttgart but did manage so here, winning a close three-set match with Elsa Jacquemot. The Ukrainian only took one break point opportunity out of a possible nine during the match.

Linda Fruhvirtova enjoyed a positive run in Rouen for her first clay court event of the campaign, getting through the qualifying and winning in the first-round against Anna Blinkova before coming unstuck against an in-form Olga Danilovic despite a close three-set match. This followed up making the final of the Puerto Vallarta Open just last month.

Despite Starodubtseva being the higher ranked of the two and having more experience, Fruhvirtova is in form and has the game to cause problems to the Ukrainian. We’re backing her to win and get through to the next round.
