Yulia Putintseva vs Rebeka Masarova prediction

Yulia Putintseva last played at the Charleston Open, where she fell to a defeat at the round-of-16 stage to Amanda Anisimova in straight sets. She has struggled to put any kind of form together since reaching the third-round of the Australian Open in January.

Rebeka Masarova got through qualifying to enter the main draw in Madrid and then produced a battling performance to defeat Ajla Tomljanovic to make the second-round here. She was really strong on her first serve, winning 81% of those points and managed to claim a late break to win 6-3 1-6 7-5. 

The Swiss player has already threatened at times this season, making the semi-finals of the Puerto Vallarta Open and coming within just a few points of beating the top seed Jacqueline Cristian and making it through to the final.

Masarova did win the only match between the two in Abu Dhabi last year and could prove to be a difficult opponent for Putintseva. We lean towards the Kazakhstani winning in three sets.
