Yair Rodriguez vs Patricio Pitbull Prediction
There is an outstanding fight in the featherweight division on Saturday night at UFC 314 as Yair Rodriguez is the man to face Patricio Pitbull on his UFC debut.
Pitbull has enjoyed a stellar career outside of the UFC and the 43-fight veteran now gets his chance after departing Bellator as their featherweight world champion. Holding a 36-7 record, Pitbull has an outstanding record, but one wonders whether it is a few years too late as he finally makes his Octagon debut.
Rodriguez is a quality operator but he has lost his two fights in the UFC against Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega. In both of those fights, he was stopped and it will be interesting to see how he returns after 14 months out.
That can be little comparison between the two resumes as Rodriguez has clearly fought the higher-calibre fighters. Pitbull is under a fair degree of pressure also coming into this fight as he seeks to prove that he can compete at this level.
We do not love favouring Rodriguez after successive losses, but we think the timeout will have served him well and we can see Pitbull struggling to handle his height and reach advantage.
Prediction: Yair Rodriguez to win
