Wolves Preview: Improvement under Pereira
In mid-December, former Porto boss Vitor Pereira replaced Gary O’Neil and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been much-improved and they have now opened up a nine-point gap between themselves and the bottom three and the relegation places.
Wolves went into the March international break on the back of a 2-1 defeat of bottom-of-the-table Southampton at St Mary’s a couple of weeks ago, courtesy of a Jorgen Strand Larsen brace, meaning they have managed just one defeat in their four matches.
West Ham Preview: Trying to gel under Potter
Former Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea boss Graham Potter is a process-driven ideologue of a coach so West Ham United were always going to have to be patient to try and get the improvement under the Englishman and it has been a relatively underwhelming start.
He earned a reputation for playing nice football with little end product at both Brighton and Chelsea and, albeit Julen Lopetegui was in charge for just over half the campaign, only the bottom three and Everton have scored fewer goals than West Ham so far this season.
Wolves Team News: Cunha still suspended
The aforementioned brace from Strand Larsen was crucial and important for Wolves the other week as Brazil international attacker Matheus Cunha remains suspended for the hosts. However, Vitor Pereira has confirmed that all of the players that went away on international duty are fully fit and came through the break unscathed.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Doherty, Agbadou, Toti; Semedo, J. Gomes, Andre, Ait-Nouri; Munetsi, Bellegarde; Strand Larsen
Unavailable: Mosquera (Injured), Chiwone (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Cunha (Suspended), Kalajdzic (Injured)
Questionable:
West Ham Team News: Fullkrug should be back
In his pre-match press conference, Graham Potter has confirmed that Germany international striker Niclas Fullkrug has returned to training and 'should' be back in the squad this weekend. They are dealing with some other attacking absentees, though, such as Crysencio Summerville and Michail Antonio.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Areola; Todibo, Mavropanos, Kilman; Wan-Bissaka, Paqueta, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Emerson; Kudus, Bowen
Unavailable: Summerville (Injured), Antonio (Injured)
Questionable: Fullkrug (Injured)
Wolves vs West Ham Prediction
Wolverhampton Wanderers have now proven themselves to be capable of playing and scoring outside of the excellent Matheus Cunha, albeit that aforementioned victory against Southampton was against a Saints side that could still end up as statistically the worst Premier League team ever. They now face a West Ham side that may enjoy some space afforded to them by a Wolves side that will perhaps view home advantage as a reason to be outright on the front foot. As a result, both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one at Molineux.
