Wolfsburg Preview: Hosts in a slump

Wolfsburg are one of the most out-of-form sides right now in the Bundesliga, having lost each of their last three league games. But with such a large gap between themselves and the bottom three, relegation isn’t an issue for them. However, it is threatening to bring a premature end to their season, consigning the hosts to midtable obscurity.

It’s down to head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl to find solutions prior to the end of this campaign and without having scored a goal in either of those three recent defeats, the Wolfsburg boss may be starting to feel the pressure.

RB Leipzig Preview: Low off to winning league start

After being beaten in their DFB-Pokal semi-final tie away at Stuttgart, Zsolt Low’s RB Leipzig bounced back at the first time of asking, with Low securing his first win in the Bundesliga courtesy of a 3-1 triumph against Hoffenheim.

The result moved Leipzig back into fifth-place above Borussia Monchengladbach, who dropped points vs St. Pauli. Another three points here would see Leipzig back in the top four, albeit temporarily depending on results the following day.

Wolfsburg Team News: Switch in formation

The hosts could look to field a conventional 4-2-3-1 for this encounter with Kaminski, Wind and Skov Olsen playing behind a lone striker, possibly Lukas Nmecha. Vavro is doubtful, whilst at least five others have been ruled out through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Grabara, Roerslev, Fischer, Odogu, Maehle; Vranckx, Arnold; Kaminski, Wind, Skov Olsen; Nmecha

Unavailable: Angely (Injured), Bialek (Injured), Bornauw (Injured), Majer (Injured), Svanberg (Injured)

Questionable: Vavro (Injured)

RB Leipzig Team News: Unchanged midfield

It would be no surprise to see an unchanged midfield for RB Leipzig with Baku starting again after his goal last time out along with the likes of Antonio Nusa and Xavi Schlager being out injured. Henrichs and Ouedraogo are also missing.

Predicted XI (4-2-2-2): Gulacsi; Geertruida, Orban, Lukeba, Raum; Vermeeren, Seiwald; Baku, Simons; Sesko, Openda

Unavailable: Henrichs (Injured), Nusa (Injured), Ouedraogo (Injured), Schlager (Injured)

Questionable:

Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig Prediction

RB Leipzig are hoping to benefit from a ‘new manager bounce’ and the win over Hoffenheim may prove to be the catalyst for just that. The result must have given the entire squad a huge boost and with some momentum finally behind them, Leipzig travel to Wolfsburg with a spring in their step and full of confidence.

When taking into account the fire form of the hosts and the fact that they have precious little to play for at either end of the table, the smart move would be to back an RB Leipzig victory, albeit via the safety of the draw no bet market.
