Wolfsburg Preview: Scoring goals for fun

Confidence within the Wolfsburg camp must be soaring right now on the back of four consecutive victories in all competitions and with home advantage here, they’ll fancy themselves to make it five against Mainz. Three of those wins were in the Bundesliga with the other coming in the DFB-Pokal round of 16.

Most impressive about these recent results have been Wolfsburg’s relentless appetite for goals. They’ve accumulated 12 goals over the course of those four victories, including eight from their last two.

Mainz Preview: Top six now within reach

Despite Wolfsburg’s excellent form, they are yet to overtake Mainz in the table, the latter sitting proudly in seventh-place. This is because Mainz themselves cannot stop winning right now, picking up nine Bundesliga points from the last nine available to them and they are now just two points from the top four heading into this latest round of fixtures.

Like Wolfsburg, scoring goals has been the key strength and pillar of Mainz’s recent winning run. They’ve found the net at least twice in each of those last three victories, racking up eight goals overall.

Wolfsburg vs Mainz Prediction

When taking into account the relentless recent goalscoring nature of these two clubs, it would be a no surprise if plenty of attacking action wasn’t on the cards here at both ends of the pitch. Offence should get the better of defence on each side and regardless of the final outcome, a shrewd move would be to back over 2.5 goals being scored across 90 minutes.

Wolfsburg vs Mainz Tip: Over 2.5 goals
