THE PREDICTION

Sweden missed out on top spot in the round-robin stage to Great Britain after losing 8-10 to Switzerland last time out. However, Niklas Edin and his team had already sealed their place in the semi-finals and come into this encounter with a 7-2 record across the Men’s Curling event so far. Like Sweden, Canada were also beaten in their final round-robin fixture and skip Brad Gushue will need to pick his side up on the back of successive defeats and formulate a plan to overcome a very strong Swedish outfit, who currently boasts the strongest offence following the round-robin stage having scored a total of 64 points so far.

The last time these two teams clashed, Sweden emerged triumphant by seven points to four and when taking into account the quality already shown by the three-time reigning Men’s World Champions across the competition, Edin and Sweden to beat Canada for the second time here in Beijing has to be favoured in this semi-final.
