Wesley Plaisier vs Ryusei Azemoto Prediction
Dutchman Wesley Plaisier makes his PDC World Championships debut after arguably the best round of his career. Despite not being a PDC Tour Card holder, he managed to become just the fourth player to win a PDC ranking event despite not being a card holder. The 34-year-old has achieved some career-best finishes this year in a number of events and he will be eager to at least get through this round and test himself against James Wade.
Ryusei Azemoto will have other ideas and the Japanese newcomer will be hoping to make a splash on his Ally Pally debut. The Japanese 29-year-old is ranked 224 in the world and has had a breakthrough year winning four titles on the PDC Asian Tour this year. He makes his debut here and made his debut back in June representing his nation at the World Cup of Darts.
Plaisier is the one who has to be favoured in this one. He has the greater experience and has been playing at a higher lever for much longer than Azemoto. Unless the Japanese newcomer hits the ground running and produces early on, it is hard to see Plaisier not grabbing control of this match early on and seeing it through.
