Wakefield Trinity Team News: Injured Hood expected to miss several weeks
While Daryl Powell was delighted with the win over Leeds on Wakey’s return to the Super League, it came at a heavy price as Scotland international Liam Hood has picked up an ankle injury which is set to rule him out for several weeks. That is one of three changes as they are also without Ky Rodwell and Matty Russell so that are somewhat weakened for this one.
Squad: Max Jowitt, Lachlan Walmsley, Corey Hall, Tom Johnstone, Jake Trueman, Olly Russell, Mike McMeeken, Jay Pitts, Thomas Doyle, Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Matty Storton, Isaiah Vagana, Oli Pratt, Mason Lino, Josh Rourke, Jack Croft, Isaac Shaw, Harvey Smith, Jayden Myers, Caius Faatili, Cain Staveley-Carr
Hull KR Team News: Unchanged 21 from opening-round win
Hull KR boss Willie Peters has named the same 21 that played against Castleford Tigers in the opening round despite a couple of injury concerns. Niall Evalds has a rib issue and Peters confirmed there were a couple of other injury concerns but did not reveal who. It will be interesting to see the confirmed 17 with that in mind.
Squad: Niall Evalds, Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart, Joe Burgess, Mikey Lewis, Tyrone May, Sauaso Sue, Jez Litten, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella, Michael McIlorum, Sam Luckley, Jai Whitbread, Rhyse Martin, Jack Broadbent, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jack Brown, Bill Leyland
Wakefield Trinity vs Hull KR Prediction
Wakefield pulled off one of the results of the opening round as they beat Leeds Rhinos away from home on their return to the Super League. They will relish playing in front of their home fans and they face another tough test as they welcome last season’s Grand Finalists Hull KR.
The visitors won their opening match but were somewhat underwhelming from an attacking perspective as a number of the big teams were. They will hope to address that in the coming weeks as they build more cohesion and sharpness.
The fact Wakey have lost a couple of players through injury does not help their cause but playing in front of their home fans will get them fired up.
With Hull KR having a few injury concerns and not firing on all cylinders just yet, we have to lean towards the home side with a 10.5 point start.
Wakefield Trinity vs Hull KR Tip: Wakefield Trinity +10.5 points
