Volkan Oezdemir: Swiss vet eager to pick up third win in a row
Volkan Oezdemir (20-7) comes into this fight in good shape having stopped his two previous opponents. A submission victory over Bogdan Guskov was followed by a knockout of Johnny Walker so the Swiss star has plenty of confidence coming into this bout. Oezdemir has a chance of making it three consecutive wins for the first time since 2017 and he will be keen to do so against an opponent on the rise.
Carlos Ulberg: New Zealand star looking to make a statement
Carlos Ulberg (10-1) is making a noise in the UFC’s light heavyweight division as he has reeled off six wins in a row. The last five of those wins have come via stoppage with four knockouts and four victories in the first round. After knocking out Alonzo Menifield in May, he faces another step up in quality here which provides him with the opportunity to make a real statement in the Octagon.
Volkan Oezdemir vs Carlos Ulberg Prediction
This is a really interesting bout in the UFC's lightweight heavyweight division as veteran Volkan Oezdemir has been paired against the rising Carlos Ulberg. This will be a really good test of Ulberg’s credentials And it will be interesting to see if he can continue his Impressive run of stoppages.
Oezdemir has shown in his last couple of fights that there is plenty of energy left in the 35-year-old. Those wins have extended his career in the organisation and he remains in the top ten of the light heavyweight rankings.
He sits at number eight with Ulberg just behind him at ten, but it is the Kiwi fighter who is trending in the right direction. He's only one year younger than Oezdemir, but is the fresher of the two fighters.
We like the energy that Ulberg brings, and our sense is that he could overwhelm Oezdemir in this fight. He has so many routes to victory, and we expect him to do so in style. Expect Ulberg to get the win and potentially by stoppage.
