Vitoria Guimaraes vs Real Betis Prediction

In the first-leg of this Round of 16 tie, the two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Betis took the lead twice via Cedric Bakambu and Isco but were pegged back by Vitoria Guimaraes on both occasions by Joao Mendes and then former Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira.

Vitoria are trying to do what teams in Portugal outside of ‘Os Tres Grandes’ and Braga don’t do and that is go deep into European competition. Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques is known for its intimidating atmosphere on the evening of a big game and that is expected to be what greets Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis in northern Portugal this week.

Following an impressive winter transfer window, Manuel Pellegrini’s Andalusians have been much-improved and that continued at the weekend as they defeated Las Palmas by a goal to nil. They have now suffered just two defeats in their last ten matches across all competitions with one of those losses coming against Gent, having won the first-leg by three goals to nil.

Vitoria, with that aforementioned atmosphere and home advantage, and Betis, with their attacking prowess and personnel, should put on another entertaining clash for the neutral.
