Veronika Kudermetova vs Xinyu Wang Prediction

Xinyu Wang is coming off the back of a credible run to the third round of Indian Wells, which included a victory over the seeded Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets. Wang could only win three games in the third round as she was dispatched efficiently by Jessica Pegula. Veronika Kudermetova knows what it takes to beat Wang, having done so at the China Open last year.

However, when these two took each other on in the 2024 Miami Open, it was Xinyu Wang who came out on top, comfortably winning in straight sets. Kudermetova didn’t play her best game in that one and one year on, she is likely to show much improvement this time around, but the question is whether it will be enough.

It will be interesting to split these two players with both inconsistent, but also capable of high level performances that can take them deep in Miami. The shrewd value move here may well be to back a three-set encounter, rather than a winner.
