Veronica Hardy: Venezuelan on a three-fight win streak

Veronica Hardy (9-4-1) is enjoying quite the comeback as she has won her last three fights in the UFC since she reversed her decision in 2020 to retire. After three years out of action due to concussions, Hardy returned in March 2023 and has since reeled off three consecutive decision victories. Her latest victory came in May this year, when she beat JJ Aldrich by unanimous decision. She will now aim to make it four in a row at UFC 309 against the talented Eduarda Moura.

Eduarda Moura: Brazilian aims to bounce back from first career loss

Eduarda Moura (10-1) is coming off the first loss of her professional MMA career as she saw a split decision go against her in her fight with Denise Gomes at UFC on ESPN 57 in June. Prior to that, Moura had won all 10 of her professional MMA fights with five submissions and four knockouts. That impressive run so her earn a shot in Dana White's contender series in which she also impressed. She beat Montserrat Ruiz on her UFC debut by TKO but then so the decision go against her against Gomes in her second bounce in the Octagon. She now looks to bounce back and get back on the winning trail.

Veronica Hardy vs Eduarda Moura Prediction

We have a great fight in the women's flyweight division to kick off UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden. Veronica Hardy meets Eduarda Moura with both fighters is looking to make strides in the flyweight rankings.

Hardy has made quite the return after coming back into the fold. The Venezuelan looks refreshed of the three years out of action have clearly served her well. The three consecutive wins will give her plenty of confidence which she will need against the talented Moura.

The big question around Moura is whether she can make the step up against higher calibre opposition in the UFC. Her resume looks impressive on paper but whether that translates against better opponents remains to be seen.

The one thing which Moura does have going for her is her ability to stop her opponents. Hardy's victories have primarily come via the judges’ scorecards and that does limit her opportunities of victory to a degree.

She may be the slight underdog coming into this fight, but we like Moura’s chances in this one. She has a number of routes to victory and we just favour to her to get the win.

Prediction: Eduarda Moura to win
