Venezia Preview: Naïve Venetians
Following the immediate departure of Paolo Vanoli to Torino, after he led Venezia to promotion last season, the Venetians plumped for former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco. His attacking and often naïve style of football eventually got Frosinone relegated from Serie A last season.
The hosts begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places. Their 1-1 draw with Empoli last weekend, though, means they have now suffered just one loss in their last five matches.
Inter Milan Preview: Well positioned Nerazzurri
After romping their way to their 20th Scudetto last season, Simone Inzaghi’s Internazionale haven’t been as efficient this season but with just one defeat so far, they begin the weekend sitting four points off league leaders Napoli, with two games in hand on the Neapolitans.
Inter began 2025 quite frustratingly by losing the Supercoppa Italiana final in a Derby della Madonnina in Saudi Arabia last weekend against AC Milan. They defeated Atalanta in the semi-finals before their second loss of the campaign to the Rossoneri a few days later.
Venezia Team News: A few issues
Venezia have one definite absentee with several injury doubts for this weekend’s visit of Inter. Michael Svoboda is unavailable due to a knee injury, whilst the likes of Domien Crnigoj, Alfred Duncan and Gaetano Oristanio are injury doubts.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Stankovic; Altare, Idzes, Sverko; Zampano, Busio, Caviglia, Ellertsson, Carboni; Pohjanpalo, Yeboah
Unavailable: Svoboda (Injured)
Questionable: Duncan (Injured), Crnigoj (Injured), Doumbia (Injured), Oristanio (Injured)
Inter Milan Team News: Defensive doubts
Club captain Hakan Calhanoglu and top scorer Marcus Thuram are both potential absentees for the visitors with Inter also dealing with several issues defensively such as Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij and Benjamin Pavard.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Darmian, Bisseck, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Taremi, Lautaro Martinez
Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Joaquin Correa (Injured)
Questionable: Acerbi (Injured), De Vrij (Injured), Pavard (Injured), Calhanoglu (Injured), Thuram (Injured)
Venezia vs Inter Milan Prediction
As mentioned, Venezia have succumbed quite often to the open style of football under Di Francesco. However, like he did at Frosinone but perhaps too late, Venezia have slightly tweaked and adjusted their style. They do, though, now take on the genuinely dominant force in Serie A, despite not yet being at the top-of-the-table, who remain title favourites. They have injuries but are still expected to grind out another three points here.
Venezia vs Inter Milan Tip: Inter Milan to win & under 3.5 goals
