Venezia Preview: Becoming more effective

Last season, following their promotion, Venezia lost manager Paolo Vanoli to Torino and took the decision to replace him with former Roma and Frosinone boss Eusebio Di Francesco. Di Francesco’s style of football is very attacking and often viewed as quite naïve and they are struggling as they sit rock-bottom in Serie A.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Bologna in their most recent outing last weekend with a brace scored by Dan Ndoye as well as one from Riccardo Orsolini. They have managed just two wins in their opening 14 matches of the campaign.

Como Preview: Cesc’s Como

Much like Venezia, Como officially swapped coaches, too, with Cesc Fabregas finishing his coaching badges and officially becoming head coach so Oisin Roberts was demoted back to being the Head of Development and the former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder has tried to implement a progressive and attacking style of football.

That progressive and attacking style of football has seen 40 goals come in Como’s 14 matches so far this season as they languish down towards the bottom end of the table. The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Monza last weekend with Gianluca Caprari’s penalty cancelling out Yannick Engelhardt’s first-half opener.

Venezia Team News: No Zampano

Venezia have been struggling at both ends of the pitch and they now have an injury concern right at the back with Finnish goalkeeper Jesse Joronen now a significant doubt.

Aside from Joronen, there are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues with defender Francesco Zampano still sidelined due to a broken hand this weekend.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Stankovic; Idzes, Svoboda, Sverko; Candela, Duncan, Caviglia, Haps; Oristanio, Busio; Pohjanpalo

Unavailable: Zampano (Injured)

Questionable: Joronen (Injured)

Como Team News: Couple of issues

Como made nearly 20 signings over the summer transfer window including some big names such as Raphael Varane, Pepe Reina, Alberto Moreno and Andrea Belotti.

However, the visitors are dealing with a couple of injuries to those big name summer signings with both Sergi Roberto and Maximo Perrone remaining sidelined for the visitors.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pepe Reina; Van Der Brempt, Goldaniga, Kempf, Alberto Moreno; Engelhardt, Da Cunha; Strefezza, Nico Paz, Fadera; Cutrone

Unavailable: Maximo Perrone (Injured), Sergi Roberto (Injured)

Questionable:

Venezia vs Como Prediction

Venezia have been entertaining to watch at times this season but Di Francesco, much like he did with Frosinone eventually last season, has tried to evolve his style of football to become more defensive and effective. They now take on a Como side that will head to Venice knowing they can take the game to pretty much anyone so will be expected to be on the front foot and a double chance bet in favour of the visitors remains a good value bet for this one against similarly poor opposition.

Venezia vs Como Tip: Double chance – Como to win or draw
