Valter Walker: Brazilian looking for back-to-back wins in Octagon

Valter Walker (12-1) is coming off his first win in the UFC after he submitted Junior Tafa back at UFC 305 in August. There was a degree of controversy around the heel hook submission as the referee deemed Tafa’s scream to be a verbal submission. Walker got the win however and that was crucial after he suffered a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Lukasz Brzeski on his UFC debut last April. That was his first professional loss of his MMA career and now he has a win under his belt in the UFC, he will be looking to put a run together now.

Don’Tale Mayes: Lord Kong looking to get back to winning ways

Don’Tale Mayes (11-7 with one no contest) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Shamil Gaziev last August so he will aim to get back in the win column here. He only has two wins in his last six fights and while he is ranked 15th in the heavyweight division, he is in desperate need of a win here. Since coming through the Contender Series back in 2019, his record in the UFC is 4-5 with one no contest so he will be keen to get a victory here.

Valter Walker vs Don’Tale Mayes Prediction

We have two fighters whose careers are going in opposite directions at the moment as Walker is a fighter on the up and Mayes is having struggles in recent times.

All the moment is with Walker coming into this one and the Brazilian bruiser will be confident as he comes off a win over the ever-competitive Junior Tafa.

Mayes has not found wins easy to come by in the last few years and he finds himself under pressure to get a win here to stay relevant in the heavyweight division.

Walker has to be favoured here however with his last five wins all come by stoppage (one submission and four knockouts). We think he can continue that run and stop Mayes here.

Prediction: Valter Walker to win by submission or KO/TKO
