Ugo Humbert comes into the Australian Open aiming to get into the second week having reached the third round in the last two editions. The Frenchman will have high hopes after a strong end to the season.

He played in the United Cup to help his preparations for this tournament and he picked up a win against Dominic Stricker and then lost to Flavio Cobolli. He now gets underway against a qualifier in the first round.

Italian 23-year-old Matteo Gigante came through three rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw of a Grand Slam for the very first time. After a strong 2024 on the Challenger Tour, Gigante will be buoyed by this opportunity and keen to make his mark.

Humbert should have far too much quality for Gigante here and we would expect a comfortable victory the Frenchman here.
