Udinese Preview: Improved Udinese

Coached by former Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic, Udinese have been much-improved this season after narrowly avoiding the drop last season. The Friulians will believe they still have a chance of finishing in the top seven and earning themselves European qualification.

That aforementioned 1-1 draw with Lazio the other day, in which Alessio Romagnoli cancelled out Florian Thauvin’s 22nd minute opening goal, means that the home team are now unbeaten in their last six matches in Serie A.

Hellas Verona Preview: Losing mentality

Hellas Verona have suffered 18 defeats in 28 Serie A matches so far this season with no team, not even well adrift Monza at the bottom-of-the-table, having suffered more defeats than them. They are hovering just above the bottom three and the relegation places.

After a 2-0 loss to a struggling Juventus side earlier this month, Verona backed that up with a 2-1 defeat at home to Bologna at the Marcantonio Bentegodi in a game in which they also went down to ten men due to winter transfer window signing Nicolas Valentini being sent off.

Udinese Team News: No Sava

Robert Sava has been covering for the injured Maduka Okoye but now the former is injured and the latter, formerly of Watford, has returned to full fitness. Sava is sidelined alongside defender Isaak Toure, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Okoye; Kristensen, Bijol, Solet; Ehizibue, Karlstrom, Lovric, Ekkelenkamp, Kamara; Lucca, Thauvin

Unavailable: Sava (Injured), Toure (Injured)

Questionable:

Hellas Verona Team News: Valentini suspended

As mentioned, Nicolas Valentini was sent off last weekend and now the Argentinian centre-back, on loan from Fiorentina, is missing through suspension. They have some other confirmed injury absentees in midfield such as Martin Frese and Abdou Harroui.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Montipo; Dawidowicz, Coppola, Oyegoke; Tchatchoua, Niasse, Duda, Bradaric; Daniel Mosquera, Sarr, Suslov

Unavailable: Valentini (Suspended), Frese (Injured), Harroui (Injured)

Questionable: Serdar (Injured)

Udinese vs Hellas Verona Prediction

Udinese started the season playing quite an entertaining style of football, whilst now they have simplified things and made themselves quite difficult to beat, amid potential in-fighting involving striker Lorenzo Lucca and basically the rest of the squad. They now face a Hellas Verona side that have shown themselves capable of earning victories but are very much not difficult to beat and, given their form as well as their home advantage, siding with Udinese is the way to go for this one up in the northeast of Italy.
