After a tough start to life in the UFC with back-to-back losses, Tresean Gore has responded well with successive wins to take his record in the Octagon to 2-2. After being knocked out by Cody Brundage in July 2022, Gore went back to basics and produced two submission victories. His latest came in November after a two-year lay-off where he got the guillotine choke on Antonio Trocoli to end it after just 83 seconds.
He now faces a tough test at UFC 314 as he comes up against the powerful Marco Tulio who is 13-1 and looking for his tenth win in a row. His last three wins have all come by knockout and nine of his 13 wins have come that way. His win last time out against Ihor Potieria in January was his UFC debut and while he has less experience in the Octagon than his opponent, he brings plenty of momentum into this one.
Gore will have to avoid Tulio’s power as if he was knocked out against Brundage, Tulio will fancy his chances. Getting it to the mat and looking to control it there is his best hope as Tulio will be going for the knockout right from the off.
Our sense is that Tulio will have too much power for Gore and catch him at some stage. Whether he gets the stoppage, we are unsure, but we think Tulio gets the win here either by knockout or decision.
