Toulouse begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table after a much-improved run of form as they now prepare to welcome high flying Auxerre who are overachieving after gaining promotion to the top-flight last season.

Toulouse Preview: Toulouse need to bounce back

Without needing to balance domestic and UEFA Europa League action as they did in the first-half of the season last season, Toulouse have been expected to be much-improved this time around and they have started to steadily improve after Carlos Martinez Novell’s campaign began quite slowly.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of defending champions and league leaders Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes last weekend thanks to goals from Joao Neves, Lucas Beraldo and Vitinha. Prior to that loss, though, Toulouse had enjoyed three successive victories.

Auxerre Preview: High flying Auxerre

Following promotion to the top-flight as Ligue 2 runners’ up last season, Christophe Pelissier’s Auxerre had started the season relatively slowly but have since majorly improved to mean they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top seven and the UEFA competition qualification spots.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of fellow newly promoted side Angers at Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps last weekend thanks to a 93rd minute winner from AFC Bournemouth loanee Hamed Junior Traore. That means they have now collected 16 points from their last seven matches in Ligue 1.

Toulouse Team News: Still no Nicolaisen

Despite being beaten 3-0 by PSG last weekend, it would be harsh for Carlos Martinez Novell to make any changes to his side and punish any of that starting eleven.

They do have one defensive injury issue to deal with for their back three and wing-back system as Rasmus Nicolaisen remains sidelined with an ankle issue.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; McKenzie, Cresswell, Akdag; Kamanzi, Cristian Casseres Jr, Sierro, Donnum; Aboukhlal, Gboho; King

Unavailable: Nicolaisen (Injured)

Auxerre Team News: No need to change

There are no fresh injury concerns for Auxerre to deal with ahead of this weekend’s clash with Toulouse so they can name an unchanged eleven as they make the trip south.

They have been able to welcome back long-term absentee Paul Joly for this one but Ange Loic N’Gatta remains sidelined alongside defensive midfielder Ousoumane Camara.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Leon; Osho, Jubal, Akpa; Hoever, Owusu, Danois, Mensah; Perrin, Traore; Sinayoko

Unavailable: N’Gatta (Injured), Camara (Injured)

Questionable:

Toulouse vs Auxerre Prediction

Toulouse, despite their loss to PSG last weekend, have been much more adventurous and entertaining in the last few weeks with an improved style of football finally coming to fruition and getting a bit more effective. They now face an Auxerre side that are heading to Stadium de Toulouse in excellent form and also playing a more proactive style of football themselves. Both teams scoring seems a good bet for a game between two in-form sides playing an entertaining style of football.
