Ange Postecoglou continues to be under pressure but the Australian is giving it back to supporters as Tottenham Hotspur now take on relegation-bound Southampton this weekend.

Tottenham Preview: Spurs’ struggling season

Ange Postecoglou appeared to cup his ears and goad the Tottenham Hotspur supporters after Pape Matar Sarr thought he had equalised against Chelsea in midweek but that was eventually ruled out for a foul and Spurs suffered a 1-0 loss to their capital city rivals at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs have been really poor throughout the Premier League campaign with that being their 16th loss of the campaign in the league in their 30 games. They do have a UEFA Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt still to look forward to.

Southampton Preview: Saints seek to avoid history

Southampton could be mathematically relegated as soon as this weekend if they lose and Wolverhampton Wanderers win away at Ipswich Town on Saturday. The Saints remain a point behind Derby County’s record lowest points tally of 11 in the Premier League.

The southerners very nearly enjoyed a victory in midweek as they took a 20th minute lead against Crystal Palace via Paul Onuachu at St Mary’s but had to settle for a 1-1 draw due to a second-half stoppage-time equaliser scored by Matheus Franca.

Tottenham Team News: Van de Ven to be fine

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Netherlands international defender Micky van de Ven suffered from cramp against Chelsea but should be available for this weekend. Richarlison could be involved after returning to training this week but they remain without the likes of Radu Dragusin, Kevin Danso and Dejan Kulusevski.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Spence, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr; Johnson, Solanke, Son

Unavailable: Dragusin (Injured), Danso (Injured), Kulusevski (Injured)

Questionable: Richarlison (Fitness)

Southampton Team News: Several Saints issues

Goal scorer from the other night and the in-form Paul Onuachu is now a doubt for Saints having sustained an ankle injury against Palace. Will Smallbone is expected back in training on Saturday and could feature, whilst the likes of Ryan Manning, Lesley Ugochukwu and Albert Gronbaek are all doubts. Flynn Downes is suspended.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Ramsdale; Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens; Walker-Peters, Aribo, Lallana, Welington; Dibling, Fernandes, Sulemana

Unavailable: Larios (Fitness), Downes (Suspended)

Questionable: Manning (Injured), Ugochukwu (Injured), Smallbone (Injured), Gronbaek (Injured), Onuachu (Injured), Stewart (Fitness)

Tottenham vs Southampton Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur have been struggling for a lot longer than this season and the poor form of Postecoglou can basically be traced back to 18 of his 22 or so months in charge of the club. They face a Southampton side that have shown some signs of improvement under Ivan Juric and they are a lot more difficult to play against but the bar was extremely low. Saints will fancy themselves to score at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium even if Spurs should come out on top.
