Tottenham Preview: Ange’s Spurs

Ange Postecoglou has a Tottenham Hotspur side that have been massively inconsistent throughout this season but they had an extreme high at the weekend as they demolished English champions Manchester City by four goals to nil at the Etihad Stadium.

They have beaten City twice this season, hammered Manchester United at Old Trafford and also battered Aston Villa mixed in with being the only team to lose to Crystal Palace, the only team to lose to Ipswich Town and losing from 2-0 up against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Roma Preview: Ranieri in at Roma

Roma are already onto their third manager of the campaign with Claudio Ranieri coming out of retirement to return to the Stadio Olimpico after the sackings of both club legend Daniele De Rossi as well as Ivan Juric in the opening few months.

Ranieri’s Giallorossi suffered a 1-0 loss to Serie A leaders Napoli in Naples at the weekend thanks to a second-half winner from Romelu Lukaku. That means the Romans are just four points above the bottom three and the relegation places in Italy.

Tottenham Team News: Key absentees

The UEFA Europa League has seen both Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear come into the first-team but the former is out with an illness and the other is suspended due to a red card against Galatasaray. There are key defensive absentees, too, with both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven out injured. It has also been confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has now suffered a fractured ankle.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Forster; Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur, Bergvall; Johnson, Solanke, Werner

Unavailable: Vicario (Injured), Romero (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Odobert (Injured), Moore (Illness), Richarlison (Injured), Lankshear (Suspended)

Questionable:

Roma Team News: A few issues

Amid links with a January transfer window move to Real Madrid, centre-back Mario Hermoso remains a doubt for Roma alongside Alexis Saelemaekers, whilst Uzbekistan international attacker Eldor Shomurodov is also out injured.

Predicted XI (4-4-1-1): Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka, Tasende; El Shaarawy, Kone, Cristante, Pisilli; Pellegrini; Dovbyk

Unavailable: Shomurodov (Injured)

Questionable: Hermoso (Injured), Saelemaekers (Injured)

Tottenham vs Roma Prediction

Backing up a 4-0 win over Manchester City is not something one would necessarily trust Tottenham to do. They began their UEFA Europa League campaign with three successive victories so they are in a good position but they will want to put right the wrong of losing 3-2 away to Galatasaray a couple of weeks ago. Roma may well rotate and have bigger fish to fry to move away from the danger zone in Serie A so surely Spurs, with home advantage, should make it back-to-back victories.
