Tottenham Preview: Spurs’ European run

In midweek, Tottenham Hotspur reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. On the night, Spurs edged past their Bundesliga opponents by a goal to nil thanks to a late Dominic Solanke penalty.

The north Londoners have struggled throughout the campaign in the Premier League and could realistically finish as low as 17th this season and that poor domestic form continued last weekend as they suffered a 4-2 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Nottingham Forest Preview: Forest need a result

Under the management of former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo, Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a very impressive campaign as they remain tucked inside the top five and the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

The visitors do, though, come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats with a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa at Villa Park being followed up by a 1-0 loss to Everton at the City Ground last weekend due to a late strike from Abdoulaye Doucoure for the Toffees.

Tottenham Team News: Maddison injury

James Maddison was forced off with a suspected concussion against Frankfurt in midweek so would have to be seen as a doubt for this one, whilst Son Heung-min missed the game due to a foot injury.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Gray, Romero, Davies, Spence; Sarr, Bissouma, Kulusevski; Johnson, Solanke, Tel

Unavailable: Dragusin (Injured), Danso (Injured)

Questionable: Maddison (Concussion), Son (Injured)

Nottingham Forest Team News: Couple of doubts

Ahead of the trip to north London this weekend, Nigeria international duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi missed training on Thursday and, in his pre-match press conference, Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that the pair face a late fitness test to be involved on Monday evening.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno; Dominguez, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Unavailable:

Questionable: Aina (Fitness), Awoniyi (Fitness)

Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur, quite simply, have put themselves into the position whereby there is simply no motivation for them to win this match with their entire focus on the UEFA Europa League where they have an excellent chance to reach the final as they play Norwegian Eliteserien side Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, have seen the gap between themselves and those outside of the top five close significantly and they are now in a concerning position but this would be a brilliant opportunity to earn some respite from those concerns before their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City next weekend.

Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest Tip: Double chance – Nottingham Forest to win or draw
