Tottenham vs Chelsea Prediction
This London derby has plenty riding on this one and it will be the hosts and boss Ange Postecoglou who will feel under the most pressure coming into this match.
The loss in midweek away to Bournemouth was miserable and their inability to create chances against what had been a leaky defence was particularly concerning. There were some rotations with Pedro Porro and Son being left on the bench but both came on and failed to make an impact. At home against a local rival like Chelsea will surely fire up the crowd and the players, but it could easily turn if things go against them as it did post-match on Thursday.
Chelsea on the other hand are flying right now. They made the short trip to Southampton and took them apart. Enzo Maresca’s men are scoring goals for fun and followed up their three against Villa last weekend with five against Southampton. There will almost certainly be one of two rotations as is Maresca’s style but he will want to go with his strongest team with London bragging rights up for grabs.
Spurs remain highly unpredictable and their last three league matches encapsulate that perfectly. A 4-0 win away to Man City was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to ten-man Fulham and then the miserable 1-0 loss at Bournemouth. All that suggests they will probably raise their game and get a positive result here. It is hard to have too much confidence in them however especially against an in-form Chelsea side who are impressing right now.
We do however expect a match with plenty of chances at both ends of the pitch so expect goals for both teams regardless of the outcome.
