TOTTENHAM PREVIEW: INCONSISTENCY

Ange Postecoglou was hugely disappointed with his side's display against Crystal Palace last week, with the 1-0 defeat to the Eagles making it two defeats in their last three Premier League games.

They delivered a strong response midweek though, beating Man City 2-1 in the Carabao Cup to reach the quarter-finals of that competition, and they will now face City's local rivals Man Utd in the last eight in December.

ASTON VILLA PREVIEW: SEVEN GAMES UNBEATEN IN THE LEAGUE

Aston Villa extended their unbeaten Premier League run to seven games last weekend, although the manner in which they dropped two points against Bournemouth will have frustrated Unai Emery as they conceded deep into injury-time to the Cherries.

Villa's Carabao Cup journey then came to an end at the last 16 stage on Wednesday, with Crystal Palace earning a 1-2 win at Villa Park.

TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS: VAN DE VEN BLOW BUT SON SHOULD BE BACK

After injuring his hamstring early in the Carabao Cup tie, Micky van de Ven will play no part in this fixture and is unlikely to be seen until after the international break, while centre-back partner Cristian Romero is a minor doubt.

In better news, Heung-Min Son has resumed training and, barring any setbacks, should return to the side on Sunday.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son

UNAVAILABLE: Van de Ven (Injured), Odobert (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Romero (Fatigue), Spence (Injured), Son (Fitness), Werner (Fatigue)

ASTON VILLA TEAM NEWS: ONLY BARKLEY MISSING

Despite a congested fixture schedule with games in three different competitions, Emery has a healthy squad with only Ross Barkley absent with a small injury that will keep him out until the end of the month.

Jaden Philogene is available for selection after completing his suspension, while Jhon Duran will once again be a consideration to start after scoring midweek.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-1-1): Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Onana, Tielemans, Ramsey; Rogers; Watkins

UNAVAILABLE: Barkley (Injured)

TOTTENHAM VS ASTON VILLA PREDICTION

It's difficult to to know what to expect from this Spurs side, as they can produce some excellent attacking football at times but they remain fragile at the back, and now with the loss of Micky van de Ven in defence, they could be in trouble here if Villa turn up.

Without Van de Ven's pace, Ollie Watkins could have some joy up front should Spurs persist with their high defensive line. For that reason, we're backing the England international to get on the scoresheet.
