Torino Preview: Pressure remains on Vanoli

Over the summer, Torino parted company with Ivan Juric due to a fairly dull style of football despite sitting in the top-half. Antonio Conte-disciple Paolo Vanoli was brought in to make things more effective and efficient but, after a bright start, he is now under pressure.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw with Udinese in Friuli last weekend in a game in which they were 2-0 down before goals from Che Adams and Samuele Ricci. They have managed just one win in their last nine matches.

Parma Preview: Pecchia’s Parma

Fabio Pecchia decided to stay put at Parma, despite interest from several clubs, after leading them to promotion last season. The Emilio-Romagna based outfit have been entertaining to watch with Pecchia’s style of football producing 59 goals in 18 games.

The visitors’ most recent outing saw them defeat Monza by two goals to one at the Ennio Tardini last weekend. Pablo Mari was sent off for Monza before Hernani’s 56th minute penalty. Monza equalised late on but Lautaro Valenti scored a 98th minute winner for Parma.

Torino Team News: Key absentees

Netherlands international centre-back Perr Schuurs is unavailable for this weekend’s visit of Parma due to a knee injury. As well as the absence of Schuurs, Torino are also without Colombia international striker Duvan Zapata as he recovers from an ACL injury.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Milinkovic-Savic; Vojvoda, Guillermo Maripan, Saul Coco; Pedersen, Vlasic, Ricci, Gineitis, Sosa; Adams, Karamoh

Unavailable: Schuurs (Injured), Duvan Zapata (Injured)

Questionable: Walukiewicz (Injured)

Parma Team News: Key midfield doubts

Hernani is an injury doubt for this weekend due to a thigh issue, whilst Nahuel Estevez may also be unavailable for this one. They also have defensive absentees for this one, too, such as Enrico Del Prato and Yordan Osorio.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Suzuki; Hainaut, Balogh, Valenti, Coulibaly; Keita, Hernani, Sohm; Man, Cancellieri, Mihaila

Unavailable: Del Prato (Injured), Yordan Osorio (Injured), Circati (Injured), Adrian Bernabe (Injured), Kowalski (Injured)

Questionable: Nahuel Estevez (Injured), Hernani (Injured), Anas (Injured)

Torino vs Parma Prediction

Paolo Vanoli’s Torino have, as mentioned, managed just one win in the last few months and that one win came as a result of Che Adams scoring from the half-way line – so hardly a sustainable route to victory. They now face a Parma side that will try and dominate possession, but that may well suit Vanoli’s style. That, therefore, could end up resulting in a fun game for the neutral. Styles make fights and, in this instance, styles may well make a good game of football, too.
