Torino Preview: Drifting Torino
Over the summer, Ivan Juric, who has now been sacked by Roma, departed Torino after his fairly lacklustre style of football produced a top-half finish but only 72 goals coming in their 38 games. Paolo Vanoli led Venezia to promotion last season and, as a disciple of Antonio Conte who he comes up against this weekend, make things more efficient.
Things were more efficient at the start of this season with the ‘automatisms’ of a Conte 3-5-2 taking affect but things have significantly drifted. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw against struggling Monza last weekend and that means they have now managed just one victory in their last nine matches across all competitions.
Napoli Preview: Grinding it out
The aforementioned Antonio Conte spent the summer whinging but after spending over £100 million towards the end of the summer transfer window, the 2022/23 Serie A winners have launched themselves to the top-of-the-table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures as they consistently grind out victories.
The Neapolitans, embodying that ‘grinding it out’ tag, are top but have scored just 20 goals in their 13 matches so far this season. Romelu Lukaku’s second-half strike was enough to separate themselves and Roma at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last weekend. They haven’t scored more than two goals in their last six matches.
Torino Team News: No Duvan Zapata
Torino started the season with Duvan Zapata and Che Adams forming an effective partnership but both have suffered injuries with Duvan Zapata still out with an ACL injury.
The home team still have a couple of injury issues with Netherlands international centre-back Perr Schuurs is sidelined alongside midfielder Ivan Ilic.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Milinkovic-Savic; Walukiewicz, Saul Coco, Masina; Pedersen, Vlasic, Ricci, Gineitis, Lazaro; Adams, Tonny Sanabria
Unavailable: Schuurs (Injured), Ilic (Injured), Duvan Zapata (Injured)

Napoli Team News: Fully fit
Napoli are consistently grinding out results with average performances and they have quite a settled eleven chock full of players that won the Scudetto in 2023.
With no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues ahead of this weekend’s trip to Piedmont, the visitors will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno, Mathias Olivera; Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Kvaratskhelia

Torino vs Napoli Prediction
As mentioned, Torino struggled for goals last season with just 36 scored despite a top-half finish. After starting brightly, things have faded and they have scored just two goals in their last five matches. Conte football can often be misjudged as being overly defensively but it isn’t quite like that – however really has been this time around with teams sitting deep against them. The expectation is that the visitors squeeze their way to another three points in Turin.
Torino vs Napoli Tip: Napoli to win & under 3.5 goals
