Tommy Paul vs Reilly Opelka Prediction

Third seed Tommy Paul has had two tough meetings so far against fellow Americans as both Jenson Brooksby and Ethan Quinn have taken him to three-set matches but Paul has found a way to win both.

He now faces yet another American as he comes up against the big-serving Reilly Opelka in what promises to be a great match-up of contrasting styles.

Opelka’s round of 16 victory over Cam Norrie was overshadowed by a controversy with the umpire who gave him a code violation after Opelka confronted a fan who was coughing on purpose to distract him while serving for match point.

Bizarrely for two experienced players, the pair have never met on the ATP Tour so it will be interesting to see how they match up. Opelka’s big serve will certainly make it hard for Paul and much will depend on how quickly he can get to grips with it.

We like the game betting in this one and can see this potentially going to three sets. We marginally favour Paul but expect a couple of tiebreaks and long sets.
