Tommy Paul vs Cameron Norrie Prediction
There were no signs of complacency in Tommy Paul’s game on Friday as he beat Tristran Boyer 6-3 6-1 to progress to the third round. The tenth-seed did what he had to do but he still has levels to go and he will need to step up as he faces Britain’s Cam Norrie in the third round.
Norrie has produced two good performances to beat Luca Nardi 6-0 6-3 and then Jiri Lehecka 3-6 6-4 7-5. The win over Lehecka was particularly impressive for how he won points in key moments as he was up against for some spells of that match. Lehecka will be kicking himself for not taking advantage of the good positions he found himself and he was as much to blame for as good as Norrie played.
Tommy Paul is unlikely to be as forgiving as Lehecka was in that match so Norrie does need to improve. He can take confidence from his record against Paul having beaten him the last three times they have met. Those all came in 2021 and 2022 however and it is fair to say that Paul improved immeasurably since then.
We like Paul to snap that streak and get the win here but we are expecting a closer match than the bookies odds suggest. Expect this to go deep in some sets and potentially even all three.
