Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Jakub Mensik Prediction

Tomas Etcheverry comes to Indian Wells off the back of a busy clay-court leg of the ATP Tour where he played in Buenos Aires, Rio and Santiago. Despite being seeded in each one, the best he managed came in Chile where he got to the quarter-finals before being eliminated and he will likely be somewhat disappointed from that overall.

He faces 19-year-old Czech talent Jakub Mensik in the first round in Indian Wells and this will be a tough assignment.

Mensik has not played as much in recent weeks but did play in Mexico last week only to lose in his opening match against doubles’ partner and compatriot Tomas Machac. He will however be fresh and acclimatised to the hard courts as he did not play any clay-court tournaments.

The pair have not met on the ATP Tour before which adds to the intrigue around this one. It is Etcheverry who is ranked higher at 45 compared to Mensik’s 57, but we prefer the Czech 19-year-old on hard courts. He will be fresh and ready to go here and we favour him to progress.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Jakub Mensik Tip: Jakub Mensik to win
