THE PREDICTION
World number 58 Camila Giorgi has failed to get past the second round of her last two tournaments at Wimbledon and the Ladies Open Lausanne. The Italian had been experiencing something of a renaissance on grass with a run to the semi-finals of the Eastbourne International cut short by injury but since then she has struggled to reach that level of intensity. This is a very tough first round draw for the 29-year-old with a first meeting against world number 15 Jennifer Brady. The American finished runner-up to Naomi Osaka at the Australian Open earlier this year but has since struggled to make an impact on tournaments and the 26-year-old has not played since an injury at Roland-Garros last month.
On form Camila Giorgi looks to be the favourite considering Brady has not played a competitive match since early June but this looks a difficult result to confidently side with. Take the Italian to win at least a set here as the likelier to come through but this match could go either way.
