THE PREDICTION

World number four Stefanos Tsitsipas looked assured in a straight-sets victory over Frances Tiafoe in the second round which he would have enjoyed immensely after losing to the American at Wimbledon earlier this month. The 22-year-old is a certain medal contender here and one of only a few men capable of beating champion-elect Novak Djokovic but world number 28 Ugo Humbert will have plenty of stock in this in the knowledge that the Greek has been fallible at times recently. The 23-year-old eventually came through a tough battle with Miomir Kecmanovic in three sets on Tuesday and he looks in excellent form that promises plenty for the rest of the season.

This should be a fascinating second meeting between the two with Humbert the winner of their first tussle over three gruelling sets at the Paris Masters last year. Tsitsipas has possibly improved on his level since then and Humbert was at the height of his powers, although the Frenchman has been returning to those heights this summer. The Greek should be winning this but in an absolute must-watch round of 16 battle take this one to see at least a tiebreak and leave the winner up to chance.
