Travel Distances 2024/25 – English Championship

Here at TSZ we have put together a list of all the travel distances for the 2024/25 English Championship season.

The distances have been determined by using the shortest route by road on Google Maps at the time of writing. The mileage shown is for the round-trip from a team's home stadium to the opponent's home stadium, and back again, for all away games in the league campaign. This is strictly a 'by road' analysis, other means of transport (e.g. train) are not considered.

TOTAL DISTANCES

  • Once again Plymouth fans are faced with the longest total mileage for league games of any team in English football this season, with their away trips totalling almost 11,000 miles over the course of the campaign.
  • By comparison, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke, Sheffield United, West Brom, Coventry and Derby fans who travel to every away league match will clock up over less than half that total distance.

WHAT IS THE LONGEST AWAY TRIP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The only fixture that will require a road journey in excess of 800 miles in the Championship is when Plymouth meet Sunderland (812 miles for the round trip).
  • Birmingham's longest trip (Plymouth), is exactly half that journey (203 miles).

WHAT IS THE SHORTEST AWAY TRIP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The fixtures between Steel City rivals Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday is the shortest in the Championship this season, with just four miles separating the stadiums by road (eight both ways).
  • Plymouth fans' shortest away day in the league this season still comes in at 242 miles (round to trip to Bristol City's stadium).
