Every UEFA Champions League final winning coach

Since the European Cup’s rebrand back in 1992-1993, a total of 19 coaches have won the UEFA Champions League across 32 finals.

Here is the full list of coaches who have led their team to victory in a UEFA Champions League final and how many times they have done so.

Carlo Ancelotti boasts the most UEFA Champions League final wins in history, coaching AC Milan to victory in the 2002-23 final, before repeating the feat in 2006-07.

Since then, the Italian has recorded a further three Champions League final victories as a coach, all of whom were with Real Madrid, including the most recent final in 2023-24, when 'Los Blancos' defeated Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

An Italian coach has triumphed in exactly a quarter of the UEFA Champions League finals that have taken place since the competition's rebrand, which is more than any other nationality with Ancelotti responsible for five of those.

Fabio Capello won with AC Milan in the second UEFA Champions League final post-rebrand, beating Barcelona 4-0, whilst Marcello Lippi was victorious two years later, guiding his Juventus side to glory against Ajax on penalties. Prior to Ancelotti's exploits at Real Madrid, Roberto Di Matteo was the winning coach when Chelsea overcame Bayern Munich, also via a penalty shootout.

However, both German and Spanish coaches have also proven to be extremely successful come the pressure-cooker of a Champions League final, with their seven wins apiece just one behind that of Italy's eight. Of the nine Champions League winning coaches from those two nations, Pep Guardiola is the sole coach to triumph in three finals.

Only one coach has not only won a UEFA Champions League final in back-to-back years, but has also done so across three consecutive seasons, completing a Champions League Final three-peat. That coach is Zinédine Zidane, whose three wins all came with Real Madrid in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Immediately following Zidane's three-peat, each of the next three UEFA Champions League finals were won by a different German coach.

Jürgen Klopp's triumph in 2018-19 with Liverpool was followed the season after by Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, before Thomas Tuchel completed the hat-trick in 2021 after taking charge at Chelsea earlier that year.
