YULIIA STARODUBTSEVA VS COCO GAUFF PREDICTION
Ukrainian qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva has been a revelation of the China Open as she came through two round of qualifying and then four rounds in the main draw. In all six matches, Starodubtseva won in straight sets including her round of 16 clash with number 10 seed Anna Kalinskaya 7-5 6-0.
The underlying stats are strong and she is also passing the eye test so it will be interesting to see how the 24-year-old will now handle Coco Gauff in the quarters.
The 20-year-old American is playing well in Beijing and she will have good confidence coming into this match. She lost the first set against Osaka but won the second to get back on track before her Japanese opponent pulled out with a back problem.
Gauff appears to be in a good place with her game right now and she has to be favoured. Do not rule out Starodubtseva winning a set but Gauff should be favoured to progress to the semis.
