THE PREDICTION

World number four conceded just four games to end teenage qualifier Sara Bejlek’s excellent run at the round of 16 stage in Madrid, with the Kazakh extending her winning streak to seven on clay. 24-year-old Rybakina beat two-time Stuttgart Open champion and world number one Iga Swiatek en-route to her third WTA title of the year two weeks ago and she has looked effortless so far in Madrid to pose a real threat to the top two.

29-year-old Yulia Putintseva’s incredible return to form continued with a brilliant comeback over 10th seed Daria Kasatkina on Monday, making back-to-back quarter-finals at Masters level after exiting Miami to Victoria Azarenka at this stage last month. The elder Kazakh currently enjoys a rare 2-0 winning record over 2022 Wimbledon champion Rybakina but the pair have not met since 2021, with that set to change. Putintseva has played well enough to warrant caution here but, realistically, Rybakina can reach the semi-finals in two.

TIP: ELENA RYBAKINA TO WIN 2-0
