YUE YUAN VS MAYAR SHERIF PREDICTION
25-year0old Yue Yuan brings a career-high WTA world ranking of 36th into Roland-Garros after winning her maiden WTA title in Austin earlier this season but Mayar Sherif looks the solid favourite here.
Yuan upset the Egyptian in straight sets on French clay at the Rouen Open last month but 28-year-old Sherif has burst into life on her favoured surface since, reaching the third rounds of Masters events in Madrid and Rome and finishing runner-up in three finals – two Challengers and last week’s WTA 250 in Morocco.
World number 53 Sherif was well beaten in a shock defeat to Peyton Stearns in Rabat on Saturday but she has recalibrated well so far this swing, whilst Yuan brings a four-match losing streak into Paris with her last win coming in the round of 16 in Rouen last month. Back Sherif to win outright.
