World number 84 Viktoriya Tomova conceded just three games to Berfu Cengiz on Tuesday to get her Rabat campaign underway well and she will back herself to make a rare foray into the last eight of a tour-level event in this second encounter with Yafan Wang. The Bulgarian beat Wang in straight sets on clay at the Bogota Open three years ago, in their only previous encounter, but both players have arguably improved since to make this look a tighter contest.
World number 68 Wang came back from a set down to upset an out-of-sorts Lin Zhu on Tuesday, snapping a four-match losing streak at tour level, and she impressed at the Charleston Challenger in March to suggest there is some clay-court form in there somewhere.
