THE PREDICTION

World number 14 Barbora Krejcikova will likely be feeling hugely relieved after winning her opening two matches at Wimbledon in Singles and Women’s Doubles, beating Maryna Zanevska in straight sets on Tuesday and winning comfortably alongside Katerina Siniakova on Wednesday. The 26-year-old has been struggling with injuries and setbacks for much of this season after a searing breakthrough in 2021 saw her produce a stunning run to win Roland-Garros alongside two WTA titles at the Strasbourg Open and Prague Open. This, however, is a really tough draw for the Czech as she faces one of the better grass-court players on the WTA in world number 58 Viktorija Golubic. The Swiss beat Andrea Petkovic in straight sets on Tuesday to snap a three-match losing streak stretching back to the semi-finals of the Nottingham Open and she reached the quarter-finals here last season before defeat to eventual runner-up Karolina Pliskova.

This is a tough call with Krejcikova’s level and recovery hard to pin down right now. Back Golubic to win at least a set as the player with better recent results and leave the winner up to chance.
