TOMMY PAUL VS TOMAS MACHAC PREDICTION

Tommy Paul cantered through his first-round match against Matteo Arnaldi 6-3 6-2 on Thursday and he now faces Tomas Machac in the round of 16. Paul was solid without being spectacular although he won every single point on his second serve which was particularly impressive.

This is Paul’s first action since the US Open where he was eliminated by Jannik Sinner in the round of 16 and he should be pretty fresh. The early signs from his first-round match are positive and he is in good shape.

He faces Tomas Machac who came through his first-round match against Alexei Popyrin 6-3 6-7 7-5. That was particularly impressive given he was forced to retire from both of his Davis Cup matches two weeks ago due to injury. That is a concern coming into this tournament but he looked fine in the three-set match against Popyrin and is seemingly fully recovered.

Paul should simply be too good for him here though. He is looking strong and his all-round game is superior to that of Machac’s right now. Expect the American to win in straight sets.

TOMMY PAUL VS TOMAS MACHAC TIP: TOMMY PAUL TO WIN 2-0
