THE PREDICTION
27-year-old Nicolas Jarry had spent much of the last two seasons in the wilderness but the Chilean is now one win away from breaking into the top 30 for the first time. The Chilean beat Hugo Dellien in straight sets on Tuesday to make it five wins on the spin on his favoured clay after winning the Geneva Open last week, where he upset Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev before a brilliant victory over Grigor Dimitrov. World number 17 Tommy Paul will have to be at his best to oust Jarry, who also won the Chile Open back in February, but he grabbed one of his more convincing results in recent times with a straight-sets victory over Dominic Stricker. The 26-year-old fantastically reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January but it could be argued that he rode a pretty open draw until defeat to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. This first meeting between the two looks an outside candidate for five sets but Jarry has one of the best records on clay on tour and he can be backed to earn at least a set here, if not two, to leave the victor up to chance.
