TOMAS MARTIN ETCHEVERRY VS MATTEO ARNALDI PREDICTION

This is an interesting match-up between Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi with the duo pretty close in the world rankings at 37 and 30 respectively.

It has been a steady rather than spectacular year for Etcheverry and his best performances have come on clay in general. He is always capable of producing a good performance on hard courts however and he will fancy his chances of progressing here.

He meets Italian 23-year-old Matteo Arnaldi and the pair have met just once before. That came on Etcheverry’s preferred clay back in 2021 on the Challenger Tour and it was the Argentine who won in three sets.

This match figures to be significantly different to that however. Not only due to the different surface, but Arnaldi is a much-improved player since then. The Italian is enjoying a strong 2024 and was in good form in Montreal last week before losing to runner-up Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals.

Arnaldi, like a number of other talented young Italians making waves on the ATP Tour right now, is well-rounded and capable on all types of surfaces. Momentum and form is certainly on his side and we strongly favour Arnaldi to progress here.
