TOMAS MACHAC VS FABIAN MAROZSAN PREDICTION

Tomas Machac is coming off a retirement in Almaty as he pulled out of his round of 16 match due to illness. That match was last Thursday so there has been enough time for him to travel and recover but there are question marks over him until he gets out there on court.

Machac had enjoyed an exceptional couple of weeks in Asia as he reached the semi-finals in the Japan Open and then the Shanghai Masters. His run in the latter was particularly eye-catching as he beat Tommy Paul and Carlos Alcaraz only for Jannik Sinner to eliminate him in the semis. Machas has been playing some exceptional tennis of late.

Fabian Marozsan returned to action in Almaty after almost a month out injured and he was beaten in his opening match by Borna Coric in straight sets. He comes straight into this clash with Machac and he really will need to hit the ground running given the quality of his opponent.

Both players come into this match with sub-optimal preparation but it is Machac who has to be favoured. His form has been outstanding of late and assuming his illness has eased, he should be able to beat a rusty Marozsan.
