TOMAS ETCHEVERRY VS NICOLAS JARRY PREDICTION
Tomas Etcheverry and Nicolas Jarry meet in the first round and the South American duo have a fair bit of history between them. They have played four times on the ATP Tour which have been split evenly two apiece, while Etcheverry won the two encounters on the Challenger Tour. All six of the encounters were played on clay so this clash on Montreal’s hard surface will add a different dimension to the rivalry.
Both have had pretty solid seasons all-round and there is little to pick between the pair in terms of the betting, their form and the head-to-head. The one factor that just gives Jarry the edge for us is his performances in March at the ATP 1000 event in Miami. Jarry beat Jack Draper, Thiago Seyboth Wild and Casper Ruud en route to the quarters, only to lose to Daniil Medvedev. His displays on hard courts and that one in particular, just sees us lean towards Jarry to edge this and it could be no surprise if it went to three sets.
