THE PREDICTION

25-year-old Tim van Rijthoven set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 104th this week after one of the most surprising title wins in recent memory. The Dutchman stunned the field on home soil a ‘s-Hertogenbosch earlier this month, beating the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Taylor Fritz before a straight-sets victory over Daniil Medvedev in the final. Van Rijthoven took that form straight into his Grand Slam debut with a straight-sets victory over Federico Delbonis giving him a six-match winning streak on grass and a 6-0 record at tour level this season ahead of a tough clash with world number 18 Reilly Opelka. 24-year-old Opelka has been struggling with form for a few months on tour and a straight-sets victory over Carlos Taberner on Monday should be of great relief to the big-serving American. This looks a bit of a coupon buster on Wednesday but Van Rijthoven is the form player on this surface and likely to get the majority of the support as his dream underdog story continues. Take the Dutchman to win at least two sets and leave the winner up to chance.
