That was the Argentine’s first ever victory over a top-ten opponent, and his confidence will be sky high right now.
It’s not so much a surprise that Nuno Borges has reached the last four though. The world number 51 has claimed a Challenger Tour title this year and also became the first Portuguese player to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open back in January. Borges has only dropped one set this week, and should have more in the tank for this semi-final than his opponent. Therefore, the 27-year-old just gets the nod to reach a first ATP final.
