THE PREDICTION
World number 79 Thanasi Kokkinakis won the first ATP title of his career at Adelaide 2 back in January and he took that form into an exhilarating Men’s Doubles title-winning campaign at the Australian Open alongside Nick Kyrgios. The 26-year-old has so far failed to win a match on grass this month but this looks set to be a well-contested and likely lengthy first encounter with world number 91 Kamil Majchrzak, also 26, with both players happy to trade blows from the baseline. Majchrzak has enjoyed the better results on grass this month, with Karen Khachanov having to come back from a set down to beat him at the Libema Open, and backing the Pole to win at least two sets here as the just-about likelier winner seems a reasonable way to avoid picking a winner. This could be a good candidate for a one-off on five sets too.
